So last night we decided to go to Water Works Park in Des Moines to check out the Jolly Holiday Lights. We had seen and heard ads on the tv and radio about the amazing light display and thought it would be a lot of fun for Blake (and us).
Once we got to the park, we let Blake sit on my lap so he would be able to see the lights better. He was quite excited - he pointed and Ohhhed! And he was sitting on the edge of my lap. :)
There were over 75 light displays - all sponsored by different companies in Iowa. Some of the displays were turned off because of the flooding that took place last Friday (it was in the 50's then - so all the snow melted and cased a lot of problems with the ice - we were in Wisconsin so we didn't have to worry about it). But we still enjoyed ourselves :) Blake especially enjoyed the animated scenes - the waving snowman, the elf playing basketball, etc. I brought my camera with but was unable to catch any good pictures :( Next year we'll probably go before Christmas so we can see Santa at the end of the route!
