Dino-Mite!!

We are having so much fun with dinosaurs this week!! Everything we've done Blake has absolutely LOVED!

Wednesday we made our way up to Ames to visit Reiman Gardens at Iowa State University. Each year they do a theme through-out the whole gardens'. This year their theme is dinosaurs! We met our mom's group at the gardens and had so much fun with all the kids!

First up we were able to see and touch a giant T-Rex skull! Blake wasn't too thrilled to sit next to the skull - he was scared!

In addition to the T-Rex skull, the garden had over 25 full-scale dinosaurs (some easy to find - the others you had to search for). The kids got a kick out of these:

Blake also got the chance to be a paleontologist!

Another feature of the gardens is the beautiful butterfly room. We walked into an exhibit with butterflies flying everywhere!

Checking out another life-size dinosaur!

Today we stayed closed to home. I had Kevin bring home a paper box lid so I could fill it up with sand and bury some dinosaurs! Yup - Blake got the chance to be a paleontologist again! He sat very nicely at his table and dug around for his dinosaur friends.

Every night this week for bedtime we've read a fun dinosaur book. Last night we read the book How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night. It's a wonderful story that starts out listing the wrong things to do when going to bed and finishes with the correct way to get tucked in. Blake has been giving us trouble at bedtime - he would much rather play all night! After reading this book - I reminded Blake how the dinosaurs go to sleep and he didn't fight at all! So I guess from now on - I'll have to remind Blake to behave like a good dinosaur!

We read that book the other night! Paige and Connor saw the dino sleeping and they both gave it a kiss and hug goodnight!
