Way Back When-esday - Eczema Edition

When: July 2008
Blake's Age: 9 months
These pictures were taken when Blake's eczema was at it's worse. It has flared up here and there but last summer it was pretty bad. We were given a prescription steroid cream to put on it - and once we moved here to Iowa our Dr. suggested having Blake tested for allergies. Last Wednesday we had his blood drawn and we found out the results yesterday (yup I waited to post about the results until today so I could do a Way Back Whens-day!). He was tested for 5 allergies: wheat, egg white, milk, tomato, and peanut. The results come back on a scale of 0-5 - 5 being a bad allergy and 0 being no allergy. Here are Blake's results: wheat - 1, egg white - 2, milk - 1, tomato - 0, and peanut - 2. He is definitely allergic to egg whites and peanuts. Wheat and milk are on the borderline but the Dr. said we don't need to eliminate either from his diet. Egg whites are going to be a bit harder to eliminate. I'll have to read a lot more labels and find substitutes for eggs. The good news is that most children grow out of this allergy by the time they are school-aged. And we'll just continue to stay away from peanuts! Poor little guy! It's not fun being allergic to stuff!
On to the fun stuff!
Yesterday Blake went to go see his very first movie at the theater! The local movie theater is doing a Children's Clubhouse so every Tuesday they play children's films and charge a $1 for admission. Space Chimps was playing so we decided to check it out. Blake LOVED sitting in the seat and rocking back and forth. Towards the end he got a little antsy but he did wonderful! I'm sure we'll be going back again!

Today was Arts & Crafts day! This morning we brought out the finger paint and had fun with that :) And after Blake's nap, we sat outside and made some fun Sun's! I definitely think we'll be doing more crafts - Blake had a blast painting and coloring!
