So our plans for this weekend were totally busted because of the huge storm that made it's way into the Midwest. Yesterday was suppose to be an extra ice practice for my synchro team followed by the Des Moines Figure Skating Club Holiday Show. Because the Blizzard Warning started at 3:00pm and went until this morning, the club was afraid that people wouldn't be able to make it home after the show. So they canceled the show - which snowballed to me canceling our practice. We also had plans last night to drive up to Faribault MN to spend time with Kevin's parents and extended family. Again because of the Blizzard conditions, we decided to delay our departure until this morning.
We woke up to blue skies - but temperatures in the single digits with high winds (which than means a negative wind chill). Kevin actually woke up before both Blake and I (this doesn't happen very often in our house on the weekends!) and was watching the weather on the TV and checking road conditions on the computer. Everything advised us to stay home. So our plans to see Kevin's parents and extended family were busted. We are all bummed because we were looking forward to a fun day with family.
Our day instead has become a "relaxing in our pj's" type of day. We've played hide-and-seek with Blake, Lego's Harry Potter on the Wii, and watched football. Tonight we'll probably watch a fun Christmas movie and maybe sing some Christmas songs?!
Oh - and I hope to get a post up with pictures from our recent trip to Sacramento. We had a lot of fun and took a bunch of pictures! So keep an eye out for that :)
